Study Options with Deborah Bates

Want to learn about making art?
This is the place for you! We have three flexible study options at this website to advance your cause!
Your instructor-mentor will be Professor Deborah Bates who has twenty five years of successful painting and drawing teaching at the undergraduate and graduate college levels (see The Artist, background).
Here’s how it works. Email your interest and choice of an Option (1 or 2 or 3) to Professor Bates at info@studywithProfessorBates.com. Shortly, you will receive an email reply from her. Then just follow the easy steps for the option you want:
Option 1 Art Critique of Your Visual Work
Are you an eager but nervous beginner?
A seasoned artist looking for a refresher?
A budding artist wanting to prepare a portfolio for college?
Once the initial contacts have been made via email and you and Professor Bates have established your goals for the critique (example: “I want to choose three of these five for my portfolio application) the critique process can begin. Within three (3) weeks, you will receive a critique summary detailing the strengths and weaknesses of your work with constructive comments and recommendations about each piece. This written critique will be similar to those given orally in studios and classrooms where Professor Bates teaches.
Three Easy Steps to Register:
- Email your interest and choice of Option (1 or 2 or 3) with reason why (your goals) to: info@studywithProfessorBates.com. Wait for an email reply from Professor Bates.
- When this reply arrives, it will ask you to prepay by clicking on the Paypal button below.
- The next confirming email from Professor Bates will contain specific instructions. Usually, you will be asked to attach five (5) jpg images of your work to your next email again to Professor Bates at info@studywithProfessorBates.com.
Option 2 Painting and Drawing Workshops
Want to tap into your latent talent?
Or re-invigorate your artistic instincts?
Professor Bates works one-on-one with you in a series of progressive lessons to advance your work to the next level. Relying on email primarily, once you have made your initial inquiry and personal goal for a workshop, and prepayment established, you will receive a series of guided questions and assignments with requests for jpg images attached to emails. The guided questions will help you identify the direction for your study. The following email exchanges will establish a schedule for assignments. A comprehensive completion schedule will be set up. You will be expected to respond via email according to the mutually agreed upon schedule. It is anticipated that six lessons will comprise each one-on-one workshop, the minimum time to completion of a full workshop is six weeks.
